Huge background in cleared tissue

Is it normal for background to be very bright for cleared brain sections (~2mm thick)?

Are you imaging in confocal mode?

That should not be the case if your optical clearing went well. What were your clearing conditions and what RI matching solution did you use? Do you have any images to show?
